The preparation of annual financial reports in a single electronic reporting format should be mandatory with effect from 1 January 2020, provided that a cost-benefit analysis has been undertaken by ESMA. ESMA should develop draft technical regulatory standards, for adoption by the Commission, to specify the electronic reporting format, with due reference to current and future technological options, such as eXtensible Business Reporting Language (XBRL). (DIRECTIVE 2013/50/EU, 6.11.2013)
(Marc) ESMA to prepare background information, surveys, public consultation(s), questionnaires to Competent Authorities and Market Participants/stakeholders, for the adoption decision to be taken by the Commission.
(Wladyslaw) What options are considered?
(Marc) All the scenarios will be included in the appropriate questionnaires serving as input for the Consultation paper expected to be published later this year. European Commision to decide on 2016 based on ESMA RTS.
