Minutes October 10th 2013

1. CEN WS XBRL Project.

CEN-CENELEC Workshop Agreements (CWA) public consultation by Oct. 9th closed. Many thanks to all of the respondents!

(Derek) Incentive to comment: 3 bottles of champaign have winners! The Beatles song title to be found in the deliverables was “across the universe”, located in CWA1. The bottles will be presented in Dec. 11, Luxembourg, CEN WS XBRL final plenary session.

CWA1:

(Katrin) Processing comments. How to include new topics not previously included into the public consultation? (Derek) To be checked with Secretariat. (Ignacio) At least as additional materials, even non CWA-promulgated.

(Piotr) XBRL Formula (XF) provides expression power capable of expressing complex relationships among data. Unfortunately, XF is not appropriate for end-users who are not trained in XML dialect and XF rules. I propose to include an intermediate layer between very technical XF notation and a natural language. Such a layer should provide a draft abstract model of validation rules and therefore named Formula Meta Description (FMD), developed with a few criteria in mind:

  1. – FMD notation should be easy to understand by end-users
  2. – FMD should have a formal notation to allow automatic FMD2XF conversion
  3. – FMD should provide all metaphors available in a multidimensional taxonomy

(Kyle) Business experts are well know users of Excel-like notation, to be maintained as far as possible.

(Ignacio) Many thanks to Piotr for the outstanding contribution, to be analysed by the CWA1 team. Volunteers to work here are more than welcomed. Final results would eventually be presented to XBRL Formula WG for consideration.

CWA3: (Pablo) Processing comments, specially the Bank of France contribution.

2. EBA news.

Draft EBA XBRL taxonomy public consultation closed on October 9. See eurofiling.info

(Haizhen) Next steps on EBA XBRL Subgroup? (Ignacio) EBA first to compile comments, and then prepare final taxonomy in weeks; EBA XBRL SG to be involved accordingly.

3. EIOPA news.   No news.

4. Events.

12th XBRL EU Day, 18th Eurofiling Workshop, CEN WS XBRL: Luxembourg, 10-11 December 2013. www.eurofiling.info/201312

Standards Developers Forum,  Now as webinar

e-business Coordination Group debriefing

(Ignacio) A number of initiatives in e-business standards are gaining momentum in Europe. Some of them are relevant for us, as Legal Entity Identifier (LEI). It is not easy to be aware about different projects and actors, and the policy to publish only formal documents do not help is fast dissemination. A report describing XBRL and activities is to be drafted for the e-business CG Secretariat, following the footsteps of other initiatives.

A relevant crosspoint is the European Multi-Stakeholders Platform on ICT Standardisation
